STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT

ATTENDANCE
Student success in school is directly tied to attendance. Responsibility for attending class lies with the student and family.

Absences
Families are requested to phone the school before 9:00 am if students are going to away. As part of our safety initiatives our school PAC has a home-phoning program for unaccounted absences.
Students who become ill during the day should go directly to their teacher. Our policy is to get ill students home as soon as possible. Our practice is to call home and ask that students be picked up. If students must be sent home, parents/guardians will be contacted first. If they cannot be reached, the school will contact the appropriate emergency phone numbers.

Late Arrivals/Early Departures
Please phone the school if students are going to be late. All late arrivals need to report to the office. For safety reasons, families are asked to sign out students who need to depart early.

LOCKERS
The use of lockers for students of division one and two is a privilege - not a right. Students are responsible for keeping their locker clean, orderly and closed with the provided locker hook. No decorations are allowed on the outside of lockers. Decorations on the inside of lockers are limited to magnetic attachments. Classroom teachers will assign lockers and monitor their use.

DRESS CODE
As we are a school of choice emphasizing respectful values and behaviours we have an expectation that all students adhere to the following dress code:

Arrive at school appropriately dressed to honour the elementary learning environment and the weather of the day.

  • Clothing should be modest and socially acceptable.
  • Students should not be wearing:
  • Clothing with inappropriate language/logos
  • Spaghetti straps, low cut tops or bare backs
  • Exposed midriffs when sitting or standing
  • Short shorts or short-short mini skirts
  • Hats inside the school building
  • School is a student's workplace and our dress code reflects that concept.
